The winner of this award best embodies the ideals of Merit Shop through superior effort and talent as recognized by others.

This employee exhibits pride, honor, leadership, setting and then raising the standard for quality, is a master of the skills required to do any task required for her position or craft, coaches and mentors others, representing the Merit Shop as a field or office professional. The winner of this award best embodies the ideals of Merit Shop through superior effort and talent as recognized by others.

ABC Norcal has many member firms who unselfishly give their time and treasure for the betterment of their communities. It is important to recognize that one of the core tenants of the merit shop philosophy is continuous improvement of our firms, employees, and communities through education, service, and volunteerism. The ABC NorCal Community Service and Outreach Award was created to recognize the efforts of member companies who engage their employees through community service and outreach. Its intent is to applaud these programs and to share them with other companies as examples of leadership in the communities in which we live, work, and serve.

This award shall be given annually to a single NorCal member company who has made significant efforts toward involving their employees in community/charitable activities, making a difference in the lives of those touched. The Excellence in Community Outreach Award recipient will be recognized in promotional materials and news releases and will receive a specially selected prize.

The panel of judges represents a cross section of construction industry experts, including owners, architects, engineers and other industry leaders. The competition is comparative, using a point system to assist in the comparisons. A project entry can earn a total possible score of 100 points. Please download the form, complete the requirements listed, and upload in the field provided below.

Provide the requested information exactly as it should appear in award-related materials and on the award. Include this form as the first page of the project’s entry. Note that each project submitted requires a completely separate entry form.

Provide a short statement on a separate sheet of paper describing what makes this project special. This description may be incorporated into the EIC program description.

This form is mandatory. No project that involves a prime, multi-prime, subcontractor or any trade related work regardless of the type of contract, that has a safety-related fatality, is eligible for an Excellence in Construction Award.

Complete the separate Project Safety form from below and upload it along with your company’s OSHA Form 300 (project-specific, if available) for the year(s) the project was under construction, with personal information redacted.
